Bianchi Universal Military holster vs. Uncle Mike's Sidekick
For a 1911 and Sig P220R. Are they basically the same? Because the Uncle Mike's is significantly cheaper. This would just be for range and woods use.

I find the M12 type holster to be terrific. But, dont buy the Bianchi offering at full retail price.
I bought mine off ebay...made by Cathey, it is genuine GI and was significantly cheaper than the retail Bianchi version. I think I paid about $20 shipped.

bianchi
I use a Bianchi for a SIG P220 and it has been a durable and trusted piece of gear. In the brush, on ATV, on foot, rough country stuff. The pistol has always been there afterwards. After many years, I see no material or wear probs yet.
I bought a thumb snap for mine as well. Out of the boonies, I can fold the flap behind the holster, against my hip and snap up, and I have a conventional snapped top draw at that point. Any "sidekick" product has always seemed a bit cheap to me. I had a double mag pouch (for above) fail early on. The bianchi GI replacement is still on duty. |

Here is an example from EBAY..."unused or lightly used condition" $19.95:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Cathey-M12-Unive...item2eadf50b3e Here is another..."new, free shipping" $26.99: http://cgi.ebay.com/US-GI-M12-Pistol...item4cf0205035 By the way, I recently bought the USGI "pistolmans accessory set"...for MOLLE beretta mag pouches and a holster extender that drops the M12 holster lower...$20 shipped. I tried it out yesterday, mounting the M12 and extender on a GI web pistol belt...Makes for a very nice set-up.
