long ar wait

Ive wanted an ar for a long time, only in the last year got the money to order a kit to build one. From the looks of things, all ar parts are basicaly coming from the same places. All advertise the same names. Ordered a flattop 20" hbar kit from one called ar15kits.com for what i felt like was a reasonable price. Not much cheaper than everyone else, but comparable. i then placed an order for a spikes lower and 4 mags with DSG arms. At the time all lowers i found online were backloged and was stated the wait would be 4 to 6 weeks. Here it is been since july 26th both orders were made and havent received as much as a notification from them. They do accept their phone calls, but after many conversations with their cust. serv. depts. no shipments have been made. Now it seems im in the situation i can pull the plug on these orders, and order someplace else and go on their waiting list (who knows how long now) or keep waiting with these same orders since its already been this long. Neither sounds very appealing at this time. What to do?

Could you by any chance specify what company(/ies) you are referring to that have you still waiting for their fullfilment of your order(s)?

And are you committed to strictly building your own?

I listed who i ordered the uper (ar15kits.com) and the lower (Spikes tactical from DSG arms) above. its a bit late at the moment to buy an ar outright unless you have about $1300.00 on hand. Seeing as how its been since july (6 mo.s ago) i dont feel like i should be in the boat im in. I called the first one this morning to see what he could put together for me asap albeit may not be exactly what i wanted im willing to bend some. I will call again tomorrow morning to see what can be done if not a full refund. I called DSG and asked them to send me the mags (4) sans the lower which has not come in 6 months i doubt it will in the next or so. Well see what happens i suppose.

If they can't satisfy you that they will deliver in the next ~2 months, if you really want an AR I would scrape together whatever you can and go buy one (if you can still find one).

I never really felt the need for an AR though I wanted one "some day". I sat out the last however many scares. This time, I went to the AR-selling Wal-Mart Monday and watched them sell the last two ARs they had (brands I didn't want). Made it to my LGS 10min before they opened and got in line...after the weekend rush they had 7 ARs left in stock, fortunately one was a RRA I was happy with and I bought it. They were essentially picked clean of what had been a huge stock of semi-autos by the time I walked out.
