Kydex vs. Injection Molded Holsters
Is one better than the other?
Any idea on the pros and cons of each? |

It's a night and day difference. Like comparing a $89.95 off the rack suit with a $500 custom tailored suit. Different companies take different approaches to their product. Uncle Mike's and Fobus market injection molded holsters to those who's main goal is walking out the store today with something - anything, especially if it's cheap. If you don't mind fighting with your holster on the draw you can save $30-40.
Comp-tac shoots for quality over quantity. Their products are kydex and very well made and feature a fully adjustable lighting fast draw, and delivery times are almost always less than two weeks. Blade-tech takes a middle ground. They offer molded holsters that are a baby step above Fobus and UM. And they offer kydex that are in my opinion a step below Comp-tac. It's just hard to beat Comp-tac products!

A step below Comp-tac? I don't remember Comp-tac making a drop offset attachment, nor do I see them making Tek-Lok (Blade-tech owns the patent on that).
Blade-tech concentrates on OWB, MOLLE, and Thigh holsters. Comp-tac concentrates on the IWB market. Blade-tech makes a better belt attachment system for OWB, and makes better double mag ouches, while Comp-tac makes better IWB clips, and better single mag pouches. |
