H110 Loads 44mag.

Hey,
I went to the Hodgen Web Site and they stated, not to reduce the H110 powder by more than 3%,when working up a load.
So,lets check my math,If the Max was 19.grains.and I reduce the load by 3%.
That would mean that the starting load would be 18.4 grains ???????RIGHT?

Yup. You're right. And use magnum primers as well and a strong crimp. If you reduce more than 3%, you'll get lots of unburned powder.

What weight bullet are you using? A 240 grain bullet normally has a max of 22, 23, 24 grains of H110 depending on the book you read. I personally user 23 grains with 240 grain bullets.

I ASSUME you're referring to the 300 grain XTP load data.
Let's see. *Thumbs through hodgdon #26*
300 grain jacketed, starting load 18.0, max load 20.0 (H110)
Well, the online resource specified XTP, so I'll whip out hornady vol.1 fifth edition (Printed 2000), and see what they have to say.
They say 300 grain XTP starting load, 17.5 starting , max. 20.1 (H110)
Hmmmmmm, something doesn't smell right.
Whipped out hornady handbook of cartridge reloading, abridged (1997).
They say 300 grain XTP starting load 16.7 grains, max. load 19.6 (H110).
Confused yet?
It looks like you're safe starting out at 18 grains, and I'd think a max of 20 grains. Use magnum primers.
Disregard if you're referring to anything except 300 grain XTP bullets in .44 magnum loaded with H110.
