Bushmaster A2 Valuation

I am considering buying a Bushmaster A2 W/Hard case from a friend of a friend. The weapon looks as if it's never been fired.

Anyone know what a fair price would be for this weapon?

I sold one of my brother's to a friend for $750. It was a patrolman's carbine and it had the removable carry handle.

If it is just the A2 (no removeable carry handle), I have seen them new for $650 in the Gander Mountain circular that comes around.

This is what Bud's is selling them for: (Fixed carry handle carbine upper)

A2 Rifle

85% of new is usually a fair price in my experience.

I wouldn't go just real high, unless it is something you really want.

You can get a Colt 6920 at Wal-mart for $1,099 in my neck of the woods.

He's offering to me at $875.00. Looks brand new and includes the Bushmaster branded hard case.

Which model is it?

Full A2 sized rifle or carbine version?

Is the carry handle removable?

Are ARs easy to get in your area? (Like at Walmart, in my area)

Yeah AR's are pretty easy in Dallas and surrounding counties in Texas

They are all XM-15s.

Does it have the collapsible stock or fixed?

Carry handle removable or fixed?

Fixed front sight?

Standard handguards or railed?

Oh, oops. (First AR for me)

It has the carry handle, standard handguard. Not sure about the sights. Fixed stock.

If you can't remove the carry handle, and it isn't a National Match version, I wouldn't pay that much for it.

My brother has one with the removable carry handle and he is going to sell it for $800. It only has a couple 100 rounds through it, if that.

If you look at the link I provided to Bud's, they are selling the A2 fixed carry handle model for $927. So you would only be saving $75 off a new one. I wouldn't pay more than $785 for it myself. (85% of a new gun from Buds)

And honestly, I wouldn't want it unless the carry handle was removable as it really limits your ability to add optics to it later.

But it is your money and you have actually seen the gun.

That's exactly the perspective I was looking for.

I just bought a buddy's (2003) Bushmaster M4A2 (fixed carry handle) with @ 1000 rounds for $700.00. If I had to do it again, I'd much rather have the A3 model. I'd dump that carry handle and take the options for different sights/scopes. Then again, the A2 has bennies for a solid sight set up (can be knocked around more), compared to exposed BUS (back up sights) or scopes. Take your pick; just remember you have NO option to remove the handle on the A2 version, but it can be scoped.

$875 can buy a much better AR than a used A2 Bushmaster. Or even a new one.

Most people these days don't want the integral carry handle/A2, they want the flexibility of a rail on top.

Let your friend of a friend find another patsy!

Just bought a lightly used A3 Bushmaster Varminter for $750 out the door. Regular Bushmaster should be a bit less.

Eh, its still a used Bushmaster. Nothing to brag about unless you can snag it for about $600 or so. For the prices hes asking you can get a whole lot more.

Don't buy it. You can build a much nicer rifle for the same price.

+1

Used A2 Bushmaster is a $600 rifle on a good day. $750 well buy a new mil-spec (nearly) flat top.
