Recycled Pelican Cae for transport & storage. update with pics
I did make a rugged pistol transport case..
at work, I disposed of an unfunctional piece of test gear...that was housed in an old PELICAN case.. I deep sixed the old dried flaking foam, and rough cut some replacement layers. cut much larger than the pistol outlines, so I can grab them. I will house the magazines & ammo in a different case Here in Connecticut ammo & guns are to be separated during transport. I don't know how professionals cut foam nicely, I tried to do a nice job, but it came out so-so...( I'll stick to electronics) Not too bad for the low cost of some foam and gorilla glue to hold it in. Not bad, where did you get the foam? From Pelican?
I was going to do the same as have an old Pelican that had some video equipment in it. I think they use a hot knife? (I don't have) Just a razor blade I guess. You left a lot of room so I guess you could fit different guns so wouldn't be just the one you have in if it was cut with real tight tolerances. |

I bought the foam from Graingers it is 1 inch thick, so I had use use 5 layers...
the top two layers are cutout. all the layers are secured with gorilla glue. it is the 2.2 lb density I guess call 220 ironically..the normal foam seemed too squishy.(.this stuff is hard ) and I'm not sure about out-gassing.. I know this stuff is inert. The star trek and john deer cloth fo the storage bags came from joanns . What is more "Manly" than star trek and jd ? |

That's a big case.
And it's mostly empty. You need more guns.
