ID on a 40X

I could use some help on history of a Remington 40X. I requested info from Rem, they sent me a manual. The rifle is a 40XB s/n 0456xxB, single shot 308. Blued receiver. Bare metal (stainless?), ~20" barrel. I didn't mic the diameter. All markings on the receiver are etched not stamped.

I am interested in the approximate date of manufacture and if this is an "original" (factory) set-up. If it is an original barrel are there any markings to look for (i.e. "Rem")?

Thanks for any assistance.
