1851 Colt Navy pistol
I have a friend who would like to find an 1851 Colt Navy pistol for his Civil War collection. Firing condition is not important but he would like matching serial numbers ( ie. not asembled from spare parts) and if possible some history on the piece. Any thoughts on where he could search for such a find?

Bill, you should be able to find some 1851 Colt Navy revolvers listed at GunsAmerica under their 'Colt Percussion - Pre-1899' section. Hope this helps!

Beware of forgeries - especially if they say it's a Confederate gun.

You mean the one I bought with Robert E. Lee in electric pencil over the Italian proof marks might not be real? I am shocked.
