26.5 MM Flare Gun?
I just bought a Polish? surplus military flare gun; aka H&K knockoff. The hammer remains in 1/4 open position (firing pin visible). If I pull the trigger and push the hammer with my thumb, the firing pin would strike the primer. If I cock the hammer and then pull the trigger (dry fire), it doesn't seem the the pin would extend to the primer. My question to anyone that has one-is it normal for the hammer to rest in the 1/4 open position with the pin fully visible? Thanks for any help!

Mine has a "rebounding hammer" hold something like a pencil eraser against the firing pin, pull the trigger and see if there is a mark on the eraser. They also make inserts for 12gauge flares, .45 Colt, and .22LR.

Thanks! That's a good name for what it does. I saw that it works as you said-now for the nerve to pull the hammer on a 410 ga shell.
PS: I have the insert for the flare gun. |
