When did Marlin begin installing the micro-groove barrels in their 30/30 lever actions? Did these barrels turn out to in fact be more accurate? Thanks.

As per the Marlin Firearms book, it was introduced in the 1954 catalog for the .22 calibers weapons. By 1956 it had been added to all Marlin firearms.
