Source for heavy (190 gr. or better) cast .38/.357 bullets

Hello -

I've been shooting a cast 200 gr. .38 Special load in bowling pin matches for several years, but now the company that produced the bullets is no longer in business. Anyone know of a source for heavy cast .38 bullets (plain base, sized .358)?

I would like at least 200 gr. - and 210 or 220 is even better. But I will drop down to 190 gr. if that's all I can get. And if I have to drop to 180, I've already found several companies on the net.

Note: I already know about Penn Bullets. I'm looking for a different source.

Thanks,
dogfood

Maybe there are other sources but this was just a quick search on cast bullets for .35 Rem (proper diameter for .38 Special/.357 Mag).

Missouri Bullet has 180 gr bullets lubed or coated.

www.montanabulletworks.com has a 195 round nose design only, non gas checked which can be obtained, as I recall, sized between .356 to .360.

Cast Performance

Midway and Grizzly Cartridge sell Cast Performance bullets. I used to load the .358/200grn. WLN in my sons 357 Blackhawk. They worked great for us. www.grizzlycartridge.com I found them here.

Thanks all ... good info ... although note that I requested plain base bullets and a source other then Penn, so some of the options provided don't fit my needs.

But the big thing I noticed with all the other sources is that their bullets are rather expensive. Why a cast 190 gr. plain base .38 bullet should cost 50% more than a cast 200 gr. plain base .45 bullet escapes me. I guess it's simply a case of supply and demand.

Just for reference, I did find a couple of lower price options:

Badman Bullets
http://www.badmanbullets.com

Colorado Cast Bullets (San Juan Range)
http://www.sanjuanrange.com

Both size their heavy .38 bullets to 0.357, so I'll inquire as to whether they'll also size them to 0.358.

Yeah...

Not sure how I missed the anti-Penn part in the OP...

I personally have nothing but good stuff to say about their bullets and service...

www.westernbullet.com has a variety of 200 gr .357s. The Saeco 351 plain base FN sized to .358 could be a good selection. Shown as $12 per 100.

I have always gotten my 200 grain .38's from Magnus Bullets. They are .357 plain base and have the profile of the old Winchester Super Police bullet. The url is http://www.magnusbullets.com/

More good options ... with good prices as well. Time to pull out the Visa card. Certainly I'll find something in this mix that works well.

Thanks,
