Hi,
I'm going to try this in here, hope someone has some input. =) I have heard of a 8mm mag necked to .30 caliber. I've heard of it refered to as .300 Asherst also...but I can not find any info out about it. No loading data, no balistics, nothing. I did see ONE (1)(a single) web sight that mentioned chambering barrels for it. But again...it was just in a list of all availible calibers. Has anyone else heard of it? Anyone seen it? Any numbers? If I understand correctly it effective range is about 1300 yards. This true? Thanks for the info! |

Don't have any info in any of my books but you might try Ken Waters books Wildcat Cartridges. There are two volumes. I see them at gunshows most of the time.

The most common 8mm Rem Mag necked down to .30 is the .300 Jarrett. There are a lot more, but with the .300 Jarrett you can find loading data & it has proven itself as a very accurate round in both Target & Hunting situations. For more information on this round, you may wish to contact Kenny Jarrett @ Jarrett Rifles Inc. - 383 Brown Road - Jackson SC. - Phone: 803-471-3616 - Fax: 803-471-9246.
