What are your favorite 40 Smith loads? I'm looking for economical loads (bullets/powder) to do some high volume loading for my club. We're looking at lead bullets (155,165,and 180gn), and maybe Titegroup if they can give us a good loading for lead bullets.
Any suggestion? Thanks.

Tom

Hello. I've had very good results with a 180 gr cast flat point bullet over 5.8 gr. Unique with WW or Fed small pistol primers. I generally use WW or Federal cases. Best.

Banzai,

Here's a few of my favorite .40 SW loads:

1. 180 Ranier FP
4.5 WST
WW Primer
1.130 OAL

2. 180 Ranier FP
4.5 WW231
WW Primer
1.130 OAL

3. 170 Cast SWC
5.0 WW231
WW Primer
1.125 OAL

4. 155 Ranier FP
5.0 WST
WW Primer
1.125 OAL

Suggest you NOT use load #3 in Glock pistols. Also, I use once fired brass to load these and generally DON'T try to load them more than two or three times (just a lot of caution with this caliber on my part).

All of the above have shot very well in the guns I've used them in...haven't tried Titegroup yet, but intend to soon.

My favorite load for IDPA and IPSC minor is:

140 gr TC lead bullet
8 gr of HS-6
CCI 500 primer
OAL 1.120

It shoots great and burns clean. Velocity runs right around 1095 fps.
