12 Ga. Hull ID help wanted.
I have a trash sack full of 2.75" 12 Ga. empties that were given to me years ago. Non-ferous head, smooth body, 209 size primers, marked Peters heavy 71/2. Seem to be made like AA, as in no base card in bottom. I'm looking for load data I can use with them.

Remington and Peters are mainly the same hull. If their blue in color they are "Blue Magic's". They were/are a good hull to reload. Snap a good photo to confirm the Blue Magic theory and I'll be happy to go into one of my old manuals and get a load.... PM so I'll know when the photo is up....

Remington data works fine. These are older cases but should be fine as long as you don't try to push max loads out of them.

I haven't used that hull in at least 20 yrs ....and as I recall, the hulls were pretty brittle ...so they cracked quickly ...and they didn't re-crimp very well.
Not that you can't use them...but if you're going to get into reloading 12ga ...I'd suggest Remington STS or Remington gun club hulls ..as a much better alternative ...with more components easy to get. In a 12ga reload ....the cost ( about $ 0.10 each ) is in the shot $ 0.04 / powder $ 0.03 / primer $ 0.02 / wad $ 0.01 and the hull is $ 0.005 or about half a cent... so fussing with an old hull ...isn't economical or something I'd recommend. |

Doug, I understand wanting to use the hulls you have and I'll be happy to help but I'm not going to list all of the possible loads on here. I sent you my phone number and I'll be happy to read you some but not knowing what components you have the listing would be LONG.... a phone call would make it much easier....

If you can get your hands on some of the older Alliant, Hodgdon, or Lyman data, there are quite a few loads listed for the Peters hulls.
But, as others have said - Remington data should work.
