IWB Holster for SIG P226R

Sorry if this has been asked before, but search results yield nothing at the moment.

I would like to get an IWB holster (preferably a clip type) for a SIG P226R. Any recommendations? Do you have one of these holsters? How much did you pay for it and what do you think of it? Are there any manufacturers who have them in stock or are these likely to be custom jobs? I do not intend to attach anything to the rail.

Lastly, any thoughts on clip vs belt attachment on this IWB holster? I had a clip IWB for a Vektor CP1 that I carried daily for more than 4 years and that was comfortable for me, but the Sig is bulkier, heavier and longer. Do you think that will make a difference?

Lou Alessi makes some fine IWB holsters that use his "Talon Clip" system. Unfortunately, his holsters are much sought after and ordering from him may take anywhere from 4 to 6 months. His main retailer lists what he has available for sale on E-bay, just search for Alessi holsters or you can contact Lou direct at [email protected] Another would be the Watch Six sold by both Milt Sparks and Alessi or Josh Bulman's TSA. I have used the Watch Six and it is a very thin and concealable IWB rig. Personally with a gun like the Sig I would go with a snap-on type as I feel they are more secure and would handle the bulk/weight much better but a holster is a personal choice so you should go with what your familiar and comfortable with.

Don Hume has pretty good turn around. Greg Kramer makes great stuff, as well as Mitch Rosen, although both have a wait. My P229R DAK is in a Don Hume IWB, P239 is in a Kramer. Both are great.

I mostly use Blade Tech IWB's with the double straps. The clip type attachments always seemed to allow the holster to move around to much for me and some would allow the holster to come out with the gun. The double straps keep it in place pretty well and are very secure.

I also have been trying out a Milt Sparks Versa Max II lately. It works very well for stability, its only downsides are, its made of leather and while the spread out straps do make it stable, the front strap is to far forward and is more visible from the front. The spread of the straps also makes it difficult to keep your gun in the same place with different pants.

I found that clip attachment was just not stable enough for me. I use Gary Brommeland's ( www.brommelandgunleather.com ) Max Con V, with a widely spaced 2 beltloop arrangement. Extremely stable and VERY comfortable. In all cases a good belt is essential.
