Kimber Pro Carry 9mm...Mistake ?

Ok here's my story. I really like the feel of the 1911, but don't like the expense of the .45 ammo. I know there will be some that disagree but I think there are some very good 9mm defensive rounds available and the cost of practice 9mm rounds is doable. I did some searches and read some good reports on the Kimber 9mm so I scraped the money togeather and ordered one. A friend at work called Kimber to get some info on a compact .40, as that is the approved round for Duty carry and the rep at Kimber said he did not like the .40 and the 1911 was designed for .45.
Did I make a mistake in ordering the Pro Carry in 9mm ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Brad

Well, I don't have a Kimber Pro Carry, but I do have this and that 1911 derivative in 9mm and see a lot more in IDPA. They are soft shooting, reliable or readily made reliable, and use cheap ammo.

I actually wish there were more 9mms available in the different 1911 platforms. don't get me wrong, I love the fullsize .45, but there are pros to having it chambered in 9mm as you pointed out.

.45s are everwhere, 9s are not as many. Hang onto your 9, it might be one you regret letting go later don the line. You can always build your collection
