GAO report on Concealed Carry in USA
The report is 90 pages of beauracrat speak and data and graphs and....But, very important data.
Specifically pay attention to who the report is addressed to and who we can assume requested the report. |

It's interesting that the recipient is Dianne Feinstein. Other than that, it's just a study concluding that standards for carry permits vary from state to state.

Smell rat?
It's interesting that the second recipient is Sensenbrenner. Is this part of the proposed over reaching national concealed carry?

I wouldn't be surprised if the report was requested to prepare for discussions of the Nation Right to Carry legislation that's been kicking around Congress for a few years.

It probably won't provide a lot of support for a federal CCW ban, or the idea that law-abiding citizens who own an evil black rifle should be automatically suspected of evil, needing further control by DiFi and fellow travelers.

I read the report, the one thing that stood out was it was not 100% accurate. Something considering it took a $ million and a year to produce. Most glaring error was in VA and concerns unlicensed Open Carry. Answer given was "yes", RESIDENTS may OC with out a license...wrong...anyone that can legally possess a weapon can OC in VA, they do not have to be a resident of VA.

Feinstein also makes it clear that she strongly supports states rights with respect to fighting a federal reduction of gun control ... but not so much regarding a federal increase in gun control. |
