some help with 270 win powder selection

I want reload for 270 win, using 110 grains spitzer bullets.
Can you recomend a powder and charges.
I´ll use these rounds for hunting coues white tail

110's on deer? Seems a little of the light side. I'd lean toward 130 or 140 grain. But, you weren't asking about bullet weight.

I've had some good success with Varget and 110 grain V-Max bullets. I don't give out exact charges, but you can get those from a good loading manual(Hornady is my preference) or the Hodgdon website (Hodgdon.com)

The 270 cartridge is quite versatile and can effectively use powders with burning rates that vary from IMR 3031 up to that of IMR 4831. Charges of your choosing, based on the best current loading manuals you have.

My question for you is why you want to use a light weight, 110 gr bullet, for whitetail or similar edible game? I would think of it as a varmint bullet. (Light weight construction, destructive fragmenting, limited penetration, characteristics)

I just want to try some rounds with this bullet weight, i have a 100 bullets box and i wanna use them. I´ve always used 130 grains bullets Winchester Silvertip and Sierra Spitzer, the best bullet weight for the 270win, for me.

Hodgdon says 36.2 grains of H4896 under a 110 for about 2600 fps. That ought to be adequate for small deer out to about 200 yards. With the reduced velocity, the bullet will be much less explosive in effect. I'd use that before I'd use a full house load with that bullet.

Oughta be great fun to shoot, too.

I have also been toying with the idea of a varmint load for my .270. Hornady manual gives a load of 52.3 to 59.6 gr of IMR4831 with velocities at 2800 to 3300 respectivly.

My gun loves 130 gr ballistic tips. I may try the 110 gr v-max from hornady.

Let us know what you end up with and a range report.
