Percussion caps or primers to use.

I am not very familiar with percussion caps but I have a friend who has a product with the brand name of Dynamit Nobel No.1081 that he is using on a Knight T-bolt. He bought a lot of these when he purchased the rifle and now he cannot find them anymore and they have been working really well for him. What should he switch to that would be comparible or where can we find the Dynamit Nobel?

I know the local stores around here do carry those Dynamit Nobel caps. If you can't find any, they are pretty close to the CCI or Remington no. 11 caps. You can try those and see if they fit your gun.

The last caps I bought were Remington 10's and 11's a 1,000 of each... been a die-hard CCI cap fan for more than a couple a decades ... I like um both, the best thing would be to do is buy say Treso nipples all the same size for all ones revs ... 30 sets of nipples is more than I want to spend ... so I'm stickin' with Remington caps for now as the wall thickness is easier on the fingers to squeeze...my next purchase will be a box of 1,000 ea CCI 10, CCI 11, Rem 10, Rem 11, and have enough Navy Arms Musket Caps to last the rest of my life...

I like CCI best. I get too many Remingtons that the compound falls out of. My musket caps are RWS(Dynamit Nobel) and they're pretty decent.

1081 are wingless musket caps. I find they and cci winged musket caps to perform the same.
1075 are the pistol caps

Now this is odd. I just checked and I have unopened containers of RWS musket caps. Some are 100 count in plastic tins and some are 250 count in metal tins. All are 1081. The ones in the plastic tins are wingless and the ones in the metal tins are winged.

yea just checked mine the wingless are 1081 FL in 100 cout plastic the winged are 1081 250 count in plastic.

I have'nt seen the metal tin in close to 10 yrs

These are older than that. I bought 20 tins around 20 years ago on a clearance sale. Still got two of the metal ones and three of the plastic ones.

The winged caps are easyer to remove from the nipple after firing, in the heat of battle.

Well Jag on your say so alone I ordered 4 tins- need something to compare to my Remington's. Haven't run across any CCI's in my AO.

Reckon they only made winged ones for rifles, right??

The winged ones are musket caps, much bigger than No. 10 or 11 and (AFAIK) only applicable for musket repros (Springfields, Enfields, et al) or conversion nipples.

The 1075s are the RWS pistol/rifle/shotgun caps. They're sort of in-between 10 and 11 in size (10.75?)...they seem to put out the hottest charge of any cap I've used (they'll shoot sparks out of the muzzle of my Walker) but they don't really fit any nipple I have very well.

Well even if they don't fit perfect now they may later- I have an ROA, 1860 and 1858 all with #11 and I think I ordered Treso nipples for all of them. The Remington caps appear ( have not shot yet

) to fit the ROA very very well-pushed on and a devil of a time sliding them off with finger nail. Have an original 1858 also but have not gone near it with a cap..yet

I never cared for RWS or Remington pistol caps. I use Remington #10's because that's usually all I can get but for all my #11's I use CCI.
