eastbank, I show that the Browning 1885 Low Wall was chambered in .260 Rem. from about 1999-2001. I can't find any record of the Winchester 1885 Low Wall being chambered in the .260 Rem. caliber. You would probably have to contact Winchester directly for that information.

260 Rem
My 8th edition (1997)of cartridges of the world does not list the 260 rem(Time to buy a new book) anyhow the 260 Rem came out around 2000/2001 time period ...in my Illustrated directory fo guns ,it states" The the Model-1885 came out in 45 centerfire and 14 rimfire cartridgesin a wide variety of barrel lengths and finishes and extras that matched the purchasers pocket "....it was also the 1st patent from browning that Winchester would buy ....BB34
BTW for this vinatge of gun this caliber would be highly unlikely... |

bigbird34, back in 1995 Browning reintroduced the Model 1885 Low Wall rifle in .22 Hornet, .223 Rem. (disc. 2000), .243 Win. (disc. 2000) and .260 Rem. (new 1999). Winchester also sold the Model 1885 Low Wall rifle from 1999-2001 chambered in .22 LR and from 2003-2006 chambered in .17 HMR (disc. 2006) and .17 Mach 2 (new 2005).
The .260 Remington cartridge was originally introduced back in 1996 as the 6.5-08 A-Square to SAAMI by the A-Square Company. Some months later Remington submitted the same cartridge to SAAMI with their headstamp. For whatever reason SAAMI decided to use the .260 Remington designation. Steve Mace
