Unique can probably be used to load a bit faster ammunition in larger capacity cases but in low pressure rounds like 45 the faster powders like 231 really shine.

Those large capacity cases is exactly why I quit using 231 -- low pressure, large capacity and TINY TINY TINY amounts of 231.

I was getting huge variations in velocity with my .44 Special target gun with 231. It was also very hard to determine if I actually had powder in the case without rappelling down into it for an inspection.

When Trail Boss came out, I never looked back.

For my .45 Colt I use Universal. It's a larger charge and gives me closer to top end charges without much velocity variation and it's not as position sensitive as 231 seems to be.

I started with HP-38 (Winchester 231) because in my Speer book it was listed for most of the calibers that I planned on loading. I have not had a reason to use switch.

I use it in .380, .38 special, 9mm Mak, 9mm Luger, light 357 lead target loads, .40 S&W, & .45 ACP

It's cheap, clean, predictable, and meters well.

I also use:
Bluedot for 357 Sig, H110 (Win 296) for Heavier 357 Magnum, and Red Dot For 12 gauge target loads

I'm teaming up with Hammerhead in that Hp-38 is good but more people should really try SR7625.It meters just as good,is clean and shoots really,really consistant,it is rapidly becoming one of my favorites especialy for lead.
