Don't they?

I've been out of the military for a few years, but I was pretty impressed by the PVS7B's we got to play with. Those seem readily available on the civilian market (if excessively expensive).

I don't know the answer to your question but you can buy second generation military NV scopes like the AN/PVS-4. Also, the civilian third generation NV stuff I have looked through works very well IMHO.

Like anything else, it's just a matter of having the right amount of money.

Justin,

If that is a GEN0 or I (I've never seen one), I don't believe ITT, Litton, or any of the other U.S NV manufacturers make GENI, never mind GEN0. With some looking you may be able to find one used, but GEN0/I isn't known for long tube life, so the chances of finding one in working condition is probably not too great.

If anyone has a link to vintage NV please post it. I'd certainly be interested.

Too bad U.S manufacturers no longer make GENI. My father used U.S. GENI? in Vietnam (Recon) and remembers it being much better than the Russian monocular I have now. We were wondering if it was actually GENII since he doesn't recall the "coke bottle" distortion in those scopes. Does anyone know when GenII came out? (My dad was there in 1969 and '70.)

Meade/ Weaver digital night vision

Anyone familiar with the Meade/Weaver digital night vision scope/monocular? They claim it's new technology resulting in superior performance at reasonable prices. Sounds great but haven't seen one yet.
