I remember during the Clinton AWB era buying and getting rid of two 15-round capable, but only 10-round permissable 9mm pistols for that very reason.

I liked my Browning BDM and sigpro 2009, but for me they were too big to be neutered like that, when equivalent sized .40 caliber pistols were available. I like the .40, some don't.

Here years later i bought the SP2022 because this time I could get 15 rounders. The BDM is no longer, so couldn't redo that one.

So I think it can be a factor.

One saving grace is that there are a whole lot more "CCW friendly" sized 9mm pistols available now that already fall into the sub 10 round range that are already highly popular.

I'm happy with my 7-round 9mms, a Nano and a P290RS.

If I am limited to 10 round magazines, then I'd probably want to go with guns that get the most utility out of those 10 (+1) rounds.

Examples:
- For a compact concealment gun, Glock 26 with 10 rounds of 9mm.
- For a normal sized gun, Glock 30 with 10 rounds of .45

There would be no reason for me to want to own or carry a Glock 17, S&W M&P full-sized, or similar sized guns because the sole reason for a gun that large is the extra capacity.

I might consider a Glock 23 since I like the overall size of the gun and giving up 3 rounds isn't *that* horrible, but still annoying.

Weren't hicap mags, over ten rounds, grandfathered in Texas? All the Clinton AWB said was you couldn't by hicap mags that were manufactured after the AWB went into affect. All I did for my pistols that accepted 15 round mags was keep my exisiting hicap mags and buy a few more that were manufactured before the ban. I just had to pay a bit more for hicap mags. It didn't force me to sell any guns nor carry something different.

There is speculation, this new ban if it happens will NOT be grandfathered, but that is purely speculation.

IMHO you got rid of perfectly good pistols for no good reason, but that's your call.

I know some folks around here who work down on the Hill.

Rumor has it Biden's team will recommend an Executive Order to instruct the Dept of Justice to work with NIH to create a mechanism to report mental illness to the FBI for inclusion in their NICS check.

BATF will alter its regulations to require all transfers now go through an FFL or Police Departmenet.

BATF will restrict all future sales of magazines to civilians to 5 rounds for long arms, 10 rounds for hand guns.

Apparently the California style "bullet button" has also been a major topic...

These rumors came from a source in Northern VA who works with various lobby groups...

We in NY are already used to 10 round rule. And there's talk to go to 7
Might as well carry revolver then

Hopefully everyone in this thread that sounds like they are already accepting defeat is routinely contacting their Senators and Representatives to remind them that putting a limit on magazine capacity is not acceptable and will do nothing to stem violent crime. We already know that criminals and mentally unstable individuals ignore gun laws.

To stay on topic, part of my handgun quals includes emergency and tactical reloading. Dropping an empty and inserting a fresh magazine is well under 2 seconds.

With Kimber in NY, easy to see who'd benefit from a 7-round limit.

I carry mostly single stacks of 45 or revolvers so It does not make much difference to me.

I can reload or switch guns fast enough that 4 more rounds is not going to hurt me. What we really need to do is explain to people why legislation against inanimate objects makes no sense.

The 1994 AWB was a boom for the 1911. Thats one of the reasons for there popularity today.

My brother is talking about converting his Glock to 50GI... I think its suppose to hold 9+1.

For me I all ready carry my J-frame (and my Coonan on rare occasions) So I am already under the 10 limit.

I figure if they do put in a weapons ban it will be a 3 rounds or less, remember the American hunter he supports? I'm worried to death about it, after all, he's got his top man on it, Joe Biden! My HK only holds 10 rounds so I'm not too upset.

If I'm ever limited to 10 rounds then I guess I will just get some California legal mags for my XD 45.

But if I am ever limited to 7 rounds then I would seriously consider carrying a revolver.

Better make sure the first two hit your target, save the rest for "zombies"

My G21 is the only gun I have that holds more than 10, the rest are carry pistols.
Even at the range I only load 5 or 6 at a time... its hard on the fingers to pack it full only to burn through it too fast anyway.

It looks like NY is limited to 7 rounds now. They have a year to sell their mags (out of state) that hold more than 7. Until that time they can only load 7 rounds into their existing mags. Boy am I glad the criminals also adhere to the mag limit rules. If they didn't, the NY citizens would be in trouble.

...Now the representatives are trying to introduce a provision so that LEOs, ex-LEOs & judges can carry more than 7 round mags. It seems like in their haste to pass something, they kind of left out a clause that exempted LEOs and the like from carrying more. The reps are saying that the police would be out gunned by the criminals if they don't fix this. So where does that leave the average law abiding armed citizen then? Out in the cold with only seven bullets in their gun trying to fight criminals who are armed with 30 round mags. Good luck guys!!!!!!

Good point, I tend to agree with you.

But consider that you might be faced by multiple attackers (home invasion) and you might miss once or twice.

That's why I like my 15 +1 9mm handguns and AR's.

ETA

And I intend on keeping them.

A ban on high capacity magazines will affect exactly one of my pistols: a M&P9c. The rest of my semi-autos are 1911s. I never carry the M&P anyway, so it's really a moot point for me. If I carry a revolver, I usually carry six additional rounds on a speed strip. With my semi-autos, I may carry a spare 7-round mag but rarely. Of couse I could always carry two 1911s.

My home defense gun is a Mossberg 500 loaded with 5 rounds of low-recoil buckshot and 5 more on hand. In the event of a home invasion I am NOT going room-to-room to clear the house. I will hunker down with the scatter gun and call 911.

.45ACP: I have plenty of 10 round mags for my Glock 21
pistols and my Glock 36 has a maximum capacity of 8 rounds.
