That's been around a while, and an aircraft version was used in Vietnam. Those grenades are not extremely powerful, but a whole bunch of them can make the receiving end a very uncomfortable place.

The Israeli soldiers are most likely using a U.S. made MK 19 since Israel for the most part does not use German made weapons. Here's a link to the field manual for it... http://155.217.58.58/cgi-bin/atdl.dll/fm/23-27/Ch1.htm
