I was given 300 of the 22 caliber 50 gr Varmint Grenades. I tried them in a standard twist 22-250 and several match grade AR's with different twist rates, and a Remington Varminter in 223. The absolute best group I could get from testing all 300 of these was 1 1/2" group at 100 yds and that was from a 1:7" twist AR match gun. The 22-250 shot groups bigger than 12" and some of the bullets keyholed. The rifle is capable of ragged holes at 100 yds. If yer hunting at 100 yds, I would think they are decent. Shooting long range, I don't think they are near accurate enough. The 36gr bullets may be a different story though as I did not try them or any other caliber. The 50 gr cannot be shot in a fog or thru a spider web- they blow up. I think they blow up far too quick and if the animal needs some penetration to kill, it's the wrong bullet. But on some thing like a prairie dog at close ranges, it should be instant death.

I load the 36 grain in my .22 Hornet, and even at the lower velocities of the Hornet (2,800-2,900 fps) they still make red mist out of fuzzy mammals quite regularly. I have never had accuracy problems with them, shooting 1" or better groups at 100 yds in my 1:14" Ruger 77/22 Hornet.

Does anyone sell these in factory loads or do you have to load them yourself?

I use the Hondady 110 V-Max in my 30-06. It will shoot under 1" at 100 yards if I do my part. Five shot groups. Also with five shot groups it a hair over 3700 f.p.s. and still under max with no signs of presure. I dont shoot a lot of them but they work great. Not good for saving pelts, anything varming size is a instant red mist.
