I thought walnut was the better media for cleaning and corn cob was the better media for polishing.

I go to Harbor Freight & buy walnut blasting media in 25lb boxes. It cost me about $7 and is small enough that it won't get stuck in bottleneck cartridges. A little NuPolish/mineral spirits mixture & some cut up dryer sheets and it's good to go.

Corncob does a better job at polishing. I got a 40 pound bag of 14/20 corncob from Grainger that will last me for years. You can add thing like liquid car polish or Dillon brass polish to make it clean faster/brighter.

Actually the opposite is true. Walnut is harder and does a better job of cleaning dirty brass. Adding some mineral spirits helps here. Cob is softer and works much better in polishing, especially if you add some Nufinish car polish before dropping in the brass.

I buy mine from Grainger because it's close to me. Drillspot is another excellent supplier. They usually deliver it cheaper than I can buy it from Grainger.

Just bought Walnut in a 5 gal bucket at my local Sportsman's warehouse. I think it's 30# for $35. Packaged by Berrys Mfg. The plated bullet guys.

Seemed like a good deal. Going to use it tomorrow.

Make sure the media size is fine so it won't get stuck in the flash hole.

I have been using the fine (24 grit) walnut media from Harbor Freight with NuFinish polish along with cut up used drier sheets and very happy with the results.

I got the drillspot deal myself. It is a huge bag for less than a dollar a pound, enough to last the average home reloader a few years I'd guess, it will for me.
