I recieved Christmas bullets for my .308, help.

I recently bought a DPMS LR-308. It has a 16" barrel and a 1:10 twist. I'm not usually one to fuss too much about bullet weight, but my wife bought me some ammo for Christmas. She didn't know what to buy so she bought a variety, and one box is 110 gr Hornady TAP ammo.

I know with .223/5.56 ARs a light bullet with a fast twist can be bad news. Am I going to have any problems with such a light bullet in a 1:10 .308? Please don't throw too much info at me, as it will go over my head.

You should be able to shoot anything accurately with a 1:10.

(is that concise enough? )

Even if it was bad news, which I don't think it is, the jacket may come off. That's your worst case scenario. You'll be fine.

Shoudn't be any problem. The short barel will lose some velocity so very unlikely the bullet will be over revved.
The only time I've seen this actually happen was when testing some 110 grain HP "varminter" bullets designed for use in a 30/30 out of a 30/06. Short range target looked like it was hit by #8 shot.

I bet it was sailing at well over engineered velocities when it left the barrel.

110gr 308

The best explosion of a Hedge Apple occurs with a 110gr Nosler Ballistic Tip from my LR308. There is a video on YouTube somewhere of it. The only thing remaining of the Hedge Apple is a green haze in the air.
