Vaquero Birds Head?

I've seen these models around on the internet, and grips for them, but on the Ruger website it doesn't mention a Bird"s Head. Does Ruger still make this gun? I would love to pick one up!

Some are swapped Ruger parts. Ruger offered some models with the Birdshead grip. There use to be two manufacturers who made Birdshead grips for Rugers. Sadly they are no more.
This is an aftermarket grip on a anniversary .357. I added the Bisley Hammer.

That's a beautiful gun, so am I able to swap out the whole grip for a bird's head grip?

Thanks. Yes, with Ruger parts. Not all grip frames well be a perfect fit at the seam with the main frame. You generally have to fit the grip frame and then blue or polish it.

There is sorta still a maker of BH grip frames: Power Custom has a "Colt SAA size" grip frame for the Rugers that is made to be adaptable to BH:

http://powercustom.com/store/index.p...products_id=67

With the panels off you can tell what's going on:

You need to find Colt SAA (late model I assume) grip panels and then round them to match what you do to BH convert this.

You might also try Midway, I had a sales catalog from them that had brass birdshead grips for Ruger frames and they come up for auction even on Ebay occasionally. The brass is easier to fit to the frame and polished up and clearcoated they look nice, but as said above they handle different and I couldn't get used to it and sold mine awhile ago.

I was wrong about Midway; it's Brownells and they have them in steel and brass.

Can you give me a part number for the brass frame? I well call them. When I check on-line they say it's a discontinued item and not available.
MK TECHNOLOGIES went out of business some time ago and the brass frames are hard to find. They used to be cheap on e-bay but no more, I saw a set go for over $300
