Dare I say Mosin Nagant? 7.62x54R can still be had cheaply enough.

Mosin Nagant and Ruger Deerfield. Granted the Mosin is surplus and the Deerfield is reloaded with some warm cheap Sierra's, Mosin is still cheaper. I just love my .44's though

300blk boltgun, silly accurate. Feed it range pickup 5.56 brass & left over .308 bullets for cheap & available shooting!

My favorite plinking rifle is a 17hmr (mine is a Savage). I find that a bolt action slows me down & requires me to more closely check my aim. I tend to track in rather than aim carefully when I shoot my semi-auto.

256 win mag in a contender 10 in bull. It's low recoil but quite loud. Use for plinking and yote hunting close up.

Marlin 1894 CL in .32-20. It is uber fun to shoot, sort of a high velocity .22 with three times the bullet weight.

Odd question to me. I just never regarded any other rifle other than a .22 rimfire to be a plinker.

well I have a few.
my SKS is probably the one I use the most since I have a decent amount of x39 built up finally. however I love to plink with my type 44 Arisaka but ammo is so gosh derned expensive that I almost never get to use it. my new toy is a 6.5 grendel AR which is becoming one of my more attractive prospects for squirrels and deer but with ammo being scarce until wolf becomes readily available I will probably keep it shelved for the time being.

I have a 22 rifle, a22 handgun, a 17 rifle. I plink with all. I will soon have a 9mm and will plink with that. My son is building a 223/556 AR and tells me he expects to plink with it. Last edited by VaPlinker; February 23, 2014 at 07:50 AM. |

Diana rws34 in 0.17 caliber. Cheaper to shoot than a 22 and never have to clean the barrel! And will pretty much last forever. I also like to plink with my 12 gauge 870 express slug but that's probably weird :/
