scope choice - Bushnell / leupold / suggestions

I've narrowed my scope choices down to these two for my Mod 7 , 7mm-08 ,
Going to purchase one or the other on Saturday, How good is the rain guard with the Bushnells ? any other differences worth considering?
eye relief with the VX-I is greater but with a 7mm-08 not sure I need to even worry. (very little recoil)

would like to hear pros and cons for both.
200.00 is my max I can afford this year so it will be one of these two.

VX-I 2-7x33 $199.00
Length: 11.0"
Weight: 10.5 oz
Eye Relief: 3.8
FOV (ft@100yards): 42.5@2x/17.8@7x

BUSHNELL Elite 3200, 2-7x32 $199.00
Length: 11.6"
Weight: 12.0
Eye Relief: 3.0
FOV (ft@100yards): 44.6@2x/12.7@7x

I wouldnt buy either, I'd look at a Burris Fullfield 2-7 or 3-9. The burris has a much clearer, brighter, and sharper image than Leupold or Bushnell. You can also get one with the ballistic plex. I have three and love every one of them.

Check them out! http://www.bearbasin.com/catalog.htm#burr_scopes

I'll second the Burris FFII. Best scope for the bucks.

Between those two scopes:
Leupold has a wonderful eyebox
Bushnell has the better quality lens coatings
Glass quality is a toss up
Leupold has a full transferable warranty

I was once a die hard Leupold fan. I look though and purchased a Bushnell scope recently and I've been impressed. If you are hunting from a stand and shooting deer over bait I'd get the Bushnell. If you are stalk hunting and a snap shot is more likely to happen I'd get the Leupold for it's great eyebox.

If you can postpone and save more the VX-II 2-7x33 is worth a little extra scratch (I've seen used ones sell right at your price point). If you can save a little more the Zeiss Conquest is a fantastic scope and used ones go a little more than your price point (although they don't sell used as often.)

Bushnell made a clone scope for Browning not too long ago. If you can find one of those you will save a few bucks and get the same scope - 3200 elite.

The Brownings don't have the same coating on the lenses, I'm not sure about the rest of the scope being the same but I am positive the coating isn't.

That's good to know DD. Should I assume the Browning coating is of lesser quality?

The Browning optical coatings are the same, but the Brownings lack the Bushy's Rainguard moisture repellent lens coating.

Of the two that you listed the 3200 is a bit better scope. But for the same money you can pick up a Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40 from SWFA. The Team Primos are rebadged Monarch UCC and feature the same quality glass and coating found in current Monarchs. It's a much better scope than either of those on the OP's list, and much better than a Burris Fullfield II. Nikon Monarchs and Leupolds have transferable lifetime warranties if purchased as new. Bushnell is I believe lifetime of the original owner.
