conceal carry holsters

ok, i'm looking for a belt holster to be worn strongside. i wanted to get some opinions as to which brand and model is the most comfortable for this. i plan to carry my hk uspc .40 in it. i currently have an iwb for summer carry, but i want a good comfortable owb holster for winter carry. thanks for your advice in advance.

You cant go wrong with the Blade-Tech line of holsters. I have both IWB and belt holsters from them and they are great. Their kydex IWB is the only holster of this type that didnt "sweat through" for me, all the leather ones have. I highly recommend all of their products.

yes, my iwb holster is a blade-tech, and it is a great iwb holster. does the kydex type owb holsters keep the gun as snug to the body as leather holsters? i was thinking it would not, but i haven't seen or worn one. i wear t-shirts and polo shirts a lot and would want the gun/holster to have as little printing as possible. any words of wisdom from anyone's experiences with ccw holsters for owb strong side carry?

Blade-Tech makes great Kydex holsters:

Michaels of Oregon/Sidekick just came out with a line of belt and paddle holsters made of Kydex (injection molding):

Fobus also makes affordable hard plastic design:

There are others out there - this is just a start. Blade-Techs are more expensive but well worth the price. I have used Fobus and they are a good value. I will be trying out the Sidekick from Michael's as soon as I can find one.

I carry an H&K .40C as well. Here are a couple you might be interested in: I picked up a Galco Concealable from a guy who was going out of business-I paid $45 for a $90 holster. Aside from the great price, it's a great holster:snug fit for the pistol and it's curved, which enables the whole rig to be drawn tight to the body with very little printing. I also own a Milt Sparks Mirage (belt slide). I love this one. I wear a suit for work and can slip my gun out of it (if I need to go into a building quickly where carrying is prohibited) and don't have to worry about drawing attention to myself, as the leather is the same color as my belt.

Right now, I'm actually considering a Milt Sparks Versa Max for summer carry-any comments on carrying this H&K in that holster? geegee

I'll second skevlar's recommendation for Rusty Sherrick's holsters. I've got a bunch of them and he does great work. Good turn around and reasonable prices.

Tony Kanaley at Milt Sparks does good work too http://www.miltsparks.com

I'm still waiting on my holster from Lou Alessi, so I don't have any firsthand experience with his work yet.

My experiences with Mad Dog gun glove holsters are mixed. The one that I have works fine on my full size Kimber, but is definately hard on the finish. My GSP2000 (basically a mildly customized Springfield) won't fit in the Mad Dog holster at all.

OK well whatever the problem was with the Blade Tech site it's fixed now...it kept taking me to some couple's site that gave their work phone numbers and no description of what they did...weird....

Give me a look at http://www.raftersgunleather.com . We have the mold gun and have sold several usp holsters with rave reviews , and its backed up with a rock solid guarantee , dont like it send it back for a refund . Cant beat it with a stick .

Holsters are like religions -- there are a whole lot of them out there, everybody has their favorites, and most of them get the same basic job done. I'd suggest taking your pistol to a gun show and trying it on in various holsters.

That said, I'm very pleased with my "Hideaway" IWB from High Noon (www.highnoonholsters.com) and my Bianchi 7/7L.

All the previous listed are absolutely great. I have leather from Alessi, Galco, Brigade, etc.

I'd like to add two local Houston craftsmen to the list.

For a great leather holster try Tucker Gunleather at 713-956-6104. Terry has a unique pancake style that stays open for re-holster and is particularly good looking. I have one for each of a Kahr P9, Glock 23 and a 1911. His cowboy rigs have won championships.

For a really great Kydex try http://www.comp-tac.com/.
I have one of his IWB "Shirt Tuckers" for my P9. Very , very fast presentation from this secure and completely concealable holster.
