New to me Sig P226R 9mm
I obtained this used Sig P226R in a trade but had a question. I know Sig offers their handguns with many different options and finishes. This particular one happens to have polished controls, grip screws, and barrel. According to the box this P226R was made in 2007. Does anyone know if this was a factory applied option or perhaps the previous owner took the time to disassemble the pistol and polish the parts?
Thanks in advance! |

Sig makes Nickle plated controls, that's probably what these are. I don't believe this is a factory option - or ever has been - but my friend has actually been wanting to do exactly this to his 226 as well.
Looks like it's pretty clean. Congratulations, the P226 is one of my favorite guns.

I think it looks better than the same old same old all black.
I bought a similar one recently on gunbroker, should be in maybe today. Regarding whether it is factory, since you have the box google the model number and see what comes up. I think it is since there are several of these nickel control guns popping up from time to time. |

Take kcub's suggestion about googling, or maybe contacting SIG. It might be a Gun-of-the-Month. SIG periodically would make limited edition guns with some slight mods, like a two-tone finish or nickel controls(?). I believe there were several GOTMs in 2007. It looks like your P226R has a Short trigger, which I don't believe was standard on P226s back in 2007.
