monte carlo stock for remington 870 20ga

I'm looking for any company that makes this stock, they all do for the 12 but none for the 20. does anybody know about remington's spring 2005 line I can't find out if there new line includes the20 ga stock. THANKS

Virtually the only use for a Monte Carlo stock on a shotgun is to raise the impact for a trap shooter. Since trap is typically shot with a 12 gauge gun, the manufacturers only put trap stocks on 12 gauges. Wenig makes replacement stocks in a Monte Carlo style if you want to shuck out the bucks.

the reason I want one is to raise my eye level to match the scope on my catilevered barrel. I believe thats a legitamate reason. Thanks for the company name!

remington do not make one for the 20 ga 870 but the say the mc stock for the 7400 will fit. I dont know about the recoil pad yet though. I ordered it today and will find out soon enough.

Did the 7400 stock fit your 870 20 gauge? I am also looking for a monte carlo stock for the same reason. Please let me know the details ... did it work, where to order, price, etc.

the stock did fit $108. directly from remington I contacted them by email through http://remington.com. I also needed a different stock bolt $?. It came with a but plate which I replaced with a sims antivibration pad, I had to cut the stock to get it to fit.

Then I ordered a walnut forend from brownell, stripped both and restained them a dark brown with a satin finish [NOTE-if your going to strip it order the satin finish it strips easier]

I also installed a mercury recoil suppressor in the stock, Had the trigger reworked to 2 1/2 lbs. added a 2-6x38 smith and wesson scope. and had the barrel pinned.

This season I neck shot a doe in the last minutes of the day while she was standing in a thicket. so to me it was worth it, next year maybe I'll get the 14 pointer that lives behind the barn

now I'm researching how to reload my own sabots to try and get the cost of practice more in line with my limited budget.

Wowza! The stock and forend look great. Before seeing your post my thought was to purchase a used 12 gauge monte carlo style stock and trim it down to fit the receiver. Seeing the pics has changed my mind. I will look for a 7400 stock and post my findings. BTW, do you recall the bolt length used to attach stock and where it can be purchased? Thanks, DSM

I got the stock bolt from remington at the same time as the stock. they knew the size. only cost $3 or so

I have seen several monte carlo style synthetic stocks up for auction, but they are for the model 7600 rifle. They are priced around $60.00 and would make a nice weather proof setup. Do you happen to know if the 7400 and 7600 rifle stocks are interchangeable? Thanks, DSM

Confirmed via the Gun Forum the 7400 and 7600 rifle stocks are interchangeable. So that translates to the 7600 stock fitting a 20 Gauge Express. Also, the Remington part numbers for the 7400 and 7600 stocks are the same. I just might try the 7600 synthetic. Will let you know. Thanks, DSM

One thing just dawned on me regarding your "It Fit" reply. Did the the stock have to be cut on the butt end, receiver end or both. Thanks, DSM

The official work from Remington 1-10-06:
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, the butt stocks will interchange, the fore-ends will not. The same size stock from a current 20 ga 1100, 11-87, 870, 7400 and 7600 will all interchange. Also the older 760, 742 and 740 butt stocks will fit.
