first time hunter needs help

hello
i live in northwest florida and have been dying to go either deer or hog hunting. as i understand it, our hogs are the best in the world. but i dont know anyone else around here that hunts. i would really have no idea knowing about where to go. also, when you kill a feral hog, are you required to dress it and take it the same way you are a deer? what good are wild hogs exactly?
thanks

Camshaft: Contact the Florida Dept. of Wildlife/Natural resources (I'm not sure what Florida calls it) and see if they offer some beginning hunting courses. I'm sure they do, and it would be a good way for you to learn the basics, and how to apply them to the region. Good luck!

Welcome to the fraternity. JMO, if I'm not going to utilize the meat, I don't hunt it.

Check gun shops/sporting goods stores/local paper sports section for flyers or news from hunting clubs. Joining a club is a great way to meet experienced shooters and add a social dimension to your sport. I would not be surprised to find a hog hunting club or two in Florida.

I know this is a gun site but I frequently go to the "Bowsite" to get info on areas. Go to their forums and click in on Florida. Alot of guys go there and share info on alot of stuff.

Aside from being a gun shooter I also shoot ASA and bowhunt as much as possible.
