Surefire Flashlight as Part of CCW Rig
I'm thinking about adding a 6PX Defender as part of my carry rig. Just wanted to see if any one had any insight on Surefire flashlights and or any advice on adding a light to your CCW rig?

I think a light is a good add to the ccw package. I carry a Fenix PD30 for my light, but the Surefire is a great light also.

Galls.com, new white lights, small defense size lights...
Before you empty your wallet, check out a few of the new white lights here; www.Galls.com . Galls sells a compact light line with LED Li battery systems around $65-90.00. These lights are powerful & include strobe/SOS features.
Im not sure if they include tailcap buttons(a good feature ) but they are well made, lightweight & may cost less than the higher end SureFire units. If you live in a colder climate, you may want a Li or recharge type white light. It may last longer than a standard AA or AAA battery flashlight. SureFire is a popular well made brand but I've seen other tactical lights with all the same options for much less $$$. Stay safe and be ready! CF |

The Surefires are good, but I am coming to think they're a bit overpriced for what they are. I have a few myself and there's roles where they're great, but for a handheld light I think there's others that are every bit as good at a fraction of the price.
I just got a Maglite XL200LED to play with, and that little stinker is about the same size as my Surefire G2, way brighter, and a fraction of the cost. |

The Surefire is a good light. Have the X300 mounted on a M&P 45 with laser grips.

I think you can find a light will better match your needs if you shop brands like Fenix or Nitecore online.

Great suggestions guys. I certainly check out the Fenix and Nightcore. I'll check out Galls too.

Galls, Fenix, white lights...
No problamo!
I was going to add Fenix which I think is the brand in Galls. Galls also has a protection-white light you can re-charge with a USB port. Other good sources include; www.natchezss.com www.blackhawk.com www.policehq.com www.qmuniforms.com and www.uscav.com. Some other white light features you may watch for are; anti roll design(if you drop it or lose it in low light) duel or tailcap operation(helps with firearms or if you need the device one handed) water-proof(not water resistant which means it can still &@#% up in the rain) compact size CREE or LED type light source a defense type design so you can use it as a weapon if needed. You may need to tear a big chunk out of a violent attacker or bust a huge wound open in his or her mellon. It could be ugly but war is Hell or so I've heard. Stay alert & 3D... ClydeFrog |
