IMO, the Skeeter is one gun that is not worth spending money on. It looks and feels good, but that's where it ends. Most have a well-earned reputation for being jam-o-matics with most ammo. and aren't really very accurate compared to others in it's price range. It comes with a couple of different recoil springs so you can find one that sort-a works most of the time, and plastic front sights that you can snap in-place(until they pop off, of course).
Look for a Buckmark or a Ruger Mk III or 22/45 if you want a reliable, accurate .22auto. Either one will last you a lifetime. |

Guess I should clarify... My price range is $300-$350... Just want something I can use at the range and run a lot of ammo through, especially since .22 ammo is so cheap. Definitely not looking to break the bank on this one.

You should be able to find a number of Ruger Mk III's or 22/45's in your price range, some even under $300. At least you can in my area. Buckmarks maybe a bit more. If not, you need to change GS's.

Oh ok. I might have to look into that! It seems like it is really customizable too? Thoughts?

My .22 mosquito is a fun gun to shoot and does not suffer from being a jamomatic. It is, however, partial to the Federal 325 bulk packs. It does have a few misfires on the 500 pack.
My experience, and that of my friends that have one, has been fine - once you discover exactly what ammo it likes and what it dislikes. |

The Beretta Neos is also in that price range. I have one and it is a lot of fun, easy to shoot well, and easy to break down for cleaning.

I too have had good experience with the mosquito. No feed problems but not as accurate as some other .22s.

My friend who I shoot with has a Mosquito. He uses almost exclusively MiniMags and gets jams. He gets maybe 5 out of 100 rounds. Not a jamomatic but it frustrates him and I can understand. Next to him I shoot my Ruger SR22P without issues. So I suggest the SR22. Neither I would consider competition 22's but fun shooters.

One other pistol to consider is the Buckmark Camper. They are also fun to shoot.

I am definitely not a huge fan of the mosquitos. They are made with cheap materials and hardly worthy of carrying the Sig name. It doesnt matter what ammo i feed mine because it always jams. I have put through a minimum of 300 rounds each of 14 different types of ammo. Even the cci mini mags have miltiple failure to fire, eject and feed. I clean it after about 300 rounds. Gun grease or oil or changing springs doesnt help. Now that thats done, the reason i keep it is for practice clearing rounds and showing people what to do with a jam. I have gotten super fast at chambering another round after a jam. Great for training in that way, but frustrating for plinking. If i train, i take the Sig, otherwise i take the Rugers

If you can find one, a smith 422 4" will be my reccomendation. They are no longer made to my knowledge.
You can find them for as little as 200 and they are ACCURATE

Not sure if you are also interested in other choices as well but, have you looked at the Bersa Thunder 22? Great little shooter that is very accurate and reliable.
You can get them for less than $300. [IMG][/IMG] |
