.45 Acp
I was just wondering if someone could tell me what the ACP stands for? Or .45 GAP for that matter. Also I was looking at buying some ammo today, and I noticed some of the .45 auto ammo was labeled as .45 AVP? what does AVP stand for and will it work in my Springfield XD .45 ACP? Thanx. I tried searching the net for answers, but found nothing

A thread on another forum suggested AVP stood for Alien Vs. Predator. It's apparently Winchester white box ammo. Someone will have to break down and call Winchester and ask what it means, I guess? In general, don't use any ammo in your gun whose headstamp doesn't match the chambering name stamped on the barrel. The .45 GAP ammo, for example, runs at pressures too high for .45 ACP chambers. AVP apparently needs to be checked out to learn whether it is for real or a typo? Never heard of it, myself.

I just looked at one of my boxes of WWB. It's in small print at the bottom of the box and it's the product code. The head stamps are .45 Auto.

Ah! So it is just on the box and not on the caseheads. Good. That would have been confusing.

Otto... Are you serious!???? My GF works at walmart in the Tirelube express, and she was behind the gun counter with the Gun girl trying to figure out what AVP stood for. And the Gun girl made a joke saying "maybe it stands for Value Pack" You cant be serious??? is that really what it means? I'll just have to go down there myself and look at the package and then look on the case of the bullet hoping to find an "ACP" lol... thanx for the post!
P.S. I never saw the box myself, my girlfriend just asked me "Why are there ACP and AVP .45 Autos" Confused the heck outa me! |

I haven't bought commercial ammo in a long time. What's on the value pack of 9mm, PVP? I wonder if the A might be ammunition rather than acp.

So I went to look at the box today... They said AVP on them. But I was not allowed to open the box, since it was sealed. I sent an email to Winchester, asking them about it. will see if I get a response this week!

OK, last post for this thread.... I got a reply form winchester. the VP is just part of the code on the box that stands for "Value Package" lol. It's true. So, I'd assume the A just stands for Auto. .45AutoValuePackage. There we have it. The official answer, spread the word!
To Clarify. Inside the winchester white box that says AVP. Are .45 ACP rounds! |
