7.62x54R Pet loads

Alright... I know there aren't a whole lot of us reloading this cartridge. However, I was hoping the dedicated few could share some pet loads.

I am looking specifically for Hornady 174 gr RN and 150 grain Interlock data. (both .312" diameter)

I would really like to see all kinds of pet loads, though.

I don't reload that alot, but one I have been happy with is Hornaday 180 grain(.308") using 48.3 grains of Win 760 powder. I have two MN 91/30's and that seems to be one they do well with. I have a MN m-44 and that does not do well with them. I slugged the bore and I think I'd use a .311 bullet if I was gonna spend the time developing a load for my M-44.

The Lyamn #48 manual has quiet a bit of good reloading data for the 54r. One of my favorite loads is the starting load of 43.5 grs. Reloader#15 and the Hornady 150 gr. .312 SP. It's not the butt kicking load most would expect out of the 54r but it's plenty accurate out of my M44.

For heavier bullets than the 150's the Sierra manual has some accuracy loads some call it the LOAD: 50 grs Accurate 4350, CCI 200 primer, Any case made by Prvi Partizan which includes Grafs, Winchester & Wolf Gold. For rifles that need .311 bullets use the Sierra 174 gr HPBT Match King or the 180 gr SP Over All Length (OAL) 3.000 . For rifles that need .312 bullets use the 174 gr. Hornady RNSP OAL 2.790 . This is important to best accuracy. Use a Lee Factory Crimp Die on these loaded round.

As with all data published or on the net it's best to start low and work your way up slowly.

I like the Sierra 200 gr GameKing BT bullet over 45.0 gr of IMR4350 in Graf's cases. I get 2135 fps and 1 1/2 - 2" groups at 100 yds with a 4X scope.

Not a hot load, but good enough for my M44.
