Remington Navy .36

Besides the 5.5" barrelled one at Cabela's, does anyone make a more historically accurate repl. of the Rem. Navy. I'd like to get a solid frame .36 cal.

Second, Does anyone have any experience with Cabela's or any .36 rems. How do they shoot?

BTW, I was buying caps today and saw a used Rem New Army (Pieitta) with a foot- or 18"-long barrel with target sites. They wanted $300 for it. Bet it would be fun.

Any info appreciated.

I don't know much about the repro .36's. The original(Beals) .36 Remington Navy had a 7 1/2 inch barrel and a smaller frame than the .44 army. The later models had a 7.375 inch barrel with the same frame as the Beals.

Both Peitta and Uberti make one; mine's a Pietta:

7 1/2" barrel, shoots .375 rbs very nicely. I use 22-25 gr fffg over under a lubed felt wad.

I understand (but cannot verify) that the Uberti has a more authentic sized grip. Pietta supposedly uses the same grip as the 1858 New Army, which is reportedly larger than the original 1858 New Navy, while Uberti uses the smaller grip.

I recall that Midway, Thunder Ridge and Taylor's carried both brands a few months ago; don't know if they still do. Cimarron and Texas Jack's carried Uberti, as did Arms to Armor, October Country and The Possible Shop.

S&S Firearms carries a Euroarms variation, but I believe that's a 6" barrel (Police version, apparently).

FYI:
The best deal is the cabela's 6.5" barrel model at $200. I'm guessing it's a Pietta.

Thunder ridge offers the 7 3/8" Pietta for $260.

S&S offers a 6.5 EuroArms for $207.

I have two Pietta's now and I find the quality good. I don't know nuhin' 'bout no Euroarms.

Though it's not historically accurate, the Cabela's short barrel appeals to me--it would be a nice change from my Pietta Remington New Army. I'm guessing again that the .36 has the same sized frame as the .44.

There's a Cabela's 27 mi. from me and they have one in stock. Might be cheaper to order it through the mail anyway.

Yes the 36 frame is the same size as the 44,
and its built like a tank.
