30-30AI reload data
Thanks Tom for the information. I recently rechambered a Savage 99 for this caliber. I am planning on trying 150 gr. Sierra BT bullets in it. With the rotory mag they should work fine.

Please give us a field report!
Datoldude--When you have the rifle back shooting, please give us a report on its performance!
You should see significant differences. With its rather strong taper, the original .30-30 is one of the best candidates for Ackley Improving. According to my Cartridges of the World, 10th ed, the .30-30AI gets 200 to 300 fps additional, within the pressure limits of the standard Win 94 action. AI'ing also usually "produces reduced case stretching and easier extraction, compared to the more tapered version." (same source) What's not to like?

30-30 Ai
Smokey Joe, Soon as I get my hands on some IMR3031 I will load up a few rounds and see what it does. I understand that you have to watch the 40 degree shoulder when seating the bullets. The shoulder has a tendency to collapse. I sure will lube the necks.
