Remington STS hulls--what load do your run in them?

Generally I load AA hulls but have a bunch of Remington STS hulls? What loads do you use in those hulls for trap or sporting clays?

I use the exact same loads in the STS hulls. I am getting away with it as I do not run loads that are anywhere near top loads. Check the data in your manual, odds are unless you are shooting the hottest loads listed what you have been doing will be fine.

I load a 1 1/8 oz load of #9's at 1200 fps with longshot for skeet, clays and doves (this is a 12 ga load) and have never had any problems.

sts loads

AA,

From the Basic Hodgdon manual (2002) pg 46.

7/8 oz #8 1/2 17.4 gr titewad, green duster wad, sts or nitro hull winch 209 primer. This load smokes 16 yrd clays if I do my part.

Thanks for the suggestions. Claypigeon, I have not tried any 7/8 oz loads. I usually get plenty of grief for shooting 1 oz loads. I might have to give it a try.

sts

AA,

I believe for 16 yrd trap anything over 1 oz is overkill, about the only thing I shoot 1 1/8 oz loads (1200 fps)is at 27 yrds. Call me cheap! At 27 yrds I will use# 7 1/2 shot, anything else its #8s or #8 1/2s.
The 7/8 oz loads are about 1250 fps (range restrictions) you can load these faster. I think you'll find the 7/8 oz have less percieved recoil.

Shoot Well,
