case lube removal

Read a post recommending synthetic motor oil for case sizing lube. Works wonderfully! No one seems to have addressed removal of oil from cases. This material is obviously a different formulation than standard petrol oil. It is tenacious and does not emulsify and remove well. Who can provide adequate information regarding solvent or other means for removing the stuff from sized cases?

If 'regular' sizing lube sells for from $4 to $9 and lasts a long time (I've got a tube of Lee that I've been working on for 4 or 5 years). Other lubes, many of them, work, but bring up other problems to deal with. What is the advantage of not using simple stuff?

To your question. Wash or tumble or rattle bucket them.

I do use a lot of Mobile One, very good on BCGs.

Imperial wax or Hornady lube wipes off easily with a paper towel.

I load in small lots, 20 at a time, and I wipe the cases with a "blue" paper towel dampened with ISO (isopropyl alcohol, 99% pure). Since I've started doing this my cases look nice, don't seem to tarnish and my tumbles gets less use.

The cheapest source for ISO is a pharmacy, usually behind the counter marked rubbing alcohol. Try and get 99% pure. (Costco)

Another benefit, good solvent and safe, it's rubbing alcohol.

Try Ideal Wire pulling lube. Water-based and dries without gunk.

The short answer is don't use it ....

Case lube is cheap ...( the real stuff ) ...and easy to remove. Don't make this stuff hard ....

( I use Dillon's spray case lube )...and I shoot about 20,000 rds a year...and an 8 oz bottle is $ 9 ....and I know it lasts me at least 3 years !) .....all I do is lay the cases flat in a cardboard box lid that is 11" X 17" ....and spritz them quickly with the lube....roll them around a little ...spritz them a 2nd time really lightly ....and let them dry for 30 min / and run them thru my case feeder ).

I think you're making it harder on yourself then it needs to be. I use Imperial Sizing Wax, I use my thumb and index finger to apply it and paper towels to remove it. It's cheap, simple and it works.

I roll my brass on an RCBS caes lube pad with Case Lube II on it, it never stick a case and I throw my brass right from the die into my Thumler tumbler... Nothing easier..
