DAC pistol safes any good?
The local wal-mart has one for $50.00 and I was wondering if they are worth getting.
Thanks. Michael. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2221464

Michael,
Many people have these inexpensive electronic safes. Half of them love them, half of them hate them. Anything that is inexpensive and electronic is bound to be nothing but trouble. I'd spend an extra $50 to $75 and buy something that uses a Simplex, push button, mechanical lock. They are far more reliable than their electronic counterparts, and will give you fewer problems over the long haul. Companies like V-Line, Handgun Box, Cannon, Fort Knox, AMSEC, and others make these "quick access safes".

I've had 2 DAC's (& 1 Gunvault) for about 3 years. Mine have been reliable - but I did have to change one battery. If you use it as a bedside & touch it open it before going to sleep, it's as safe and reliable as anything else.
Otherwise, like a1 said, a simplex mechanical lock does the same thing without a battery. But, boy, those DAC's are cheap! |
