Looking forward to get one of theese Marlin 1895G.
What are "better" bullet weight for this gun. Can I use jacked and/or solid in it, or are they only for use in the 458 Win.Magn., as they have the same diameter (.458)? |

You can use jacketed bullets, but the tips must be flat and preferably made of lead. I did lots of trial and error this year with jacketed bullets and found that jacketed bullets when penetrating more than 20" of flesh and bones stink. Got the 45-70 to late in the year to test it. The jackets rip apart and the mass disintegrates. I think that with that in mind, only a good quality hard cast bullet will do this caliber justice.
