Had one of those flyguns until I used it too much and it broke.

I haven't killed much. One deer with a Remington 700 in .260 Remington. That's it. It's mounted in my room.

Never really enjoyed killing for sport. I can respect it, though.

Regards,

-Mo.

I grew up hunting for food.

Took more game with a .22lr than anything else by far. Can't be specific as far as the rifle since I've used several over the years, if I had to guess I'd say it's a tie between a Marlin auto-loader (handed down from my grandfather) and the Henry lever-action carbine I handed down to my Son.

12 ga. Deer, pheasant, and squirrel
.50 cal muzzle loader might win out as far as pounds of meat b/c I have taken more deer with it than the 12 ga.

20 gauge h&r topper shotgun I've been using since I was 11 for hunting game, but I've killed way more with a marlin 22 rifle on a trap line.

For pounds of meat, 30-06 Remington 760. For number of kills, Remington Semi Auto 22lr.

Winchester Model 1200 shotgun. Used it for deer, quail, doves, ducks, geese, pheasant, and even a wily coyote. Next up would of been a Winchester Model 67A single shot .22 rifle. There have been a lot of squirrels and rabbits in the mix.

My Stevens/Fox SxS 16 ga. given to me 50 years ago by my grandfather. It was his first gun bought after he came home from France in WWI. Probably had his most wildlife kills too. I grew up learning to hunt with it, and used it for everything that ran, climbed or flew. Ducks, Geese, Grouse, Quail, Dove, Pheasants, Wild Turkeys, Woodcock, squirrels, rabbits, fox, coyotes, and even a coupla deer using slugs. To this day it is my go to Pheasant gun.

Now this isn't a picture of my 22 - but I have one that is 40 years old...

This thing has killed more gofers/ground squirrels, rabbits, skunks, vermits (sic) than I could even imagine. Growing up on a ranch made this 22 the truck gun for most of my childhood.

10,000? easy.

My 870 killed a lot of ducks and geese - but not thousands like the 22.

It's a toss up between my Crosman 760 pellet gun and my 870. The pellet gun killed sparrows, rabbits, squirrels and pigeons for years before I was allowed to get a firearm. And the 870 took all of the afore mentioned plus pheasants and geese.

I have killed more meat with my .270 win. than any other gun I own. The rifle is a Weatherby vanguard VGX. I have a 4-12 Bushnell Trophy scope on the rifle and it has not changed zero significantly in years. My Marlin Papoose .22lr is a close second.

Mid 70's Sako 25-06... probably 40 deer over the years exclusively with Remington Core-Lokt. It wears a period Redfield 3-9x40 that hasnt been adjusted in a couple decades. Longest shot was about 340yds holding just over the shoulder.

Kinda same here: My .270WIN would be the hands down winner by sheer poundage ...... sheer numbers would probalby be one of the Marlin 60's I've owned, either the one I had from age 10 to 18 or the one I have now, bought almost 20 years ago, though I have not shot much with it in a decade...... though if you count the number the gun was used on by all users ..... that would be the 270....... it's been used on everything from ground squirrels to elk since 1958, ten years before I was even born .....

Geez ma neez. . .

Well, I intended this post with some humor in mind but the serious bent it has taken is truly interesting. If I had to pub a finger not he single gun I've actually made the most hunting kills with it would be my mossberg 500 410 and the game should be squirrels.

Live well, be safe

The most kills (including pests, nuisance animals, moths, and lizards):
Rossi 62SAC .22 S/L/LR (using .22 LR almost exclusively).

The same rifle would be the 'small game' champion.

Most big game kills:
Ruger 77 Mk II, .270 Win.

Over the years I come to realize its not always the most spendy or new weaponry that make the hunt. Case in point my Citori Lightning's and Sig Sauer 202 Supreme are definitely not my preference's in the field for the game I harvest these days.
Over the years (55 of the 70 I've enjoyed) nothing has ever sneaked away from my 300 Savage once centered in its open barrel sights. Old 1920 cartridge. But still one of the (best) for deer size game. There are reason why I prefer the 300 Sav over the 308 & 30-06. But that discussion is best left to another time.

As for upland game. My preference for that effort is a Iver Johnson single shot 12 ga. Light to carry quick to point and with 3" slid into its tube. It's Full choke pellets pattern is outstanding for those high flyers. Although I hardly ever use 3" anymore as I seldom hunt Canadian's, Snow Geese or Mallards these days due to a pair of old worn-out knees. I actually find it easier to walk and pursue those little tasty woodsy one's now. Partridge Grouse and of course Mr. Snow Shoe {when opportunity knocks.} Home loaded light charges of Hodgdon in 2-3/4" hulls pushing #6 gets the job done most of the time on those three critters.
