A few minutes ago, this from the Wall Street Journal (I've added some selected quotes, click on the URL to read the entire article):

Still, in all, this is a bad thing for Americans looking for a smaller, leaner Federal Government. |

Curious. I can't help but wonder if those who cut the "special deals" will be praised or punished. All politics being local and all.
But barring a repeal of the 16th it will be hard to strike it down.

Let's hope it becomes that way. We got here because of an apathetic populace who chose too late to get involved and become vocal. And that's not just "everybody else." It's us, too. I've lost count of how many supposed "gun people" I've spoken with over the last couple of years who can't even name their Congressman. Jeff Knox estimated that less than 6% of gun owners are politically active at all. From my firsthand experience, that's pretty close to the mark. The Slaughter rule is unconstitutional. A great deal of what's going on right now is unconstitutional. It continues only because we allow it to. Make politics personal. Get in touch with your representatives. Organize letter-writing campaigns. Raise awareness. As long as people think they can't make a difference, they can't.
