Small base dies for BAR?

A question on reloading for a Browning BAR 338: Will standard dies work or are special "small base" dies necessary? I am not a very experienced handloader and had never heard of such dies until a friend mentioned their existence.

Thanks for help on this one.

If your BAR has a GI barrel regular dies should work. If you are having extraction problems the small base dies should solve this problem. My M1A loaded has the NM barrel on it and I had problems with extraction on all my handloads untill I switched to a set of RCBS small base dies. these dies are disigned for full and semi auto.
