If you were going out to get a Browning Automatic Rifle, what would you ( should I) look for?
what wouldnt i want to see, what would i want to see and what kind of price would i expect to pay?

They don't show up often but you see one sometimes in Shotgun News or the automatic arms web sites. I think I would start with SGN and call the advertisers or auto weapons. Problem is that very few U.S. BAR's were sold as deactivated weapons and registered in 1968, which is where most of the WWII era auto weapons are coming from today. I am not sure, but I would guess that prices might go to $10K or more.

More common were the Swedish (6.5x55) and Belgian (7.65) BAR's and there are some of those around.

Needless to say, trying to buy an unregistered gun illegally could mean big trouble.

You may want to check with Impact Guns in Ogden Utah. 1-888-sva-guns. Last time I was there they had a BAR. It was over $10,000 if I remember right. Nice bunch of guys though.

Buy it for mom!

After all, she's the only mother you have. If you're saving up your ducats, show her that movie every now and then to keep the interest alive.

Dear guerilla,
Contact:
Republic Arms 2126 W 34th St Houston, TX (713) 682-5549.
They seem to come across them rather often.
Ask for Arthur L. May
I haven't been there for several years, but their "feel" and reputation for the highest quality has always been a pleasure.
Regards,
