Newbe Primer Question

I am new to reloading and have a question.

My Sierra reloading guide recommends Federal 210M primer for the load recipe for the .308 load I am interested in loading. Can a Remington 9 1/2 larger rifle primer be substituted for a Federal 210M primer? In general can primers be substituted if they are the same in size for the type of case they were intended. I do know you cannot use magnum primers for a non magnum application.

Thanks

The change from 210M to 9 1/2 may yield less consistent loads as the 210M are match primers, which are held to a higher consistency standard.

A handy chart from Handloads.com
