Anyone use Win PD slugs on deer?

I bought some 12 ga Winchester PDX 1 slugs, advertised as serrated, so as to break up into 3 pieces upon impact.

They shoot a 3 inch pattern at 50 yards in my Rem 870.

Seems like a good deer round to me. Anyone on this forum used them for hunting? If so, what results did you get?

I guess no one uses these?

I like any kind of slug. My question would be penetration. It looks like it would work, one ounce at 1,600 fps. I'm thinking a Brenneke slug would be a better choice. As I understand it, the PDX ammunition is for self-defense, not hunting.This is a pretty good review

I think the PDX1 12ga rounds are a 1oz slug and 3 00buck shots in the same round. I don't think the slugs break up any more than other slugs.

There are two versions, one slug/buck and another with the segmenting slug described by the O/P

wow that cool. Do you have any links to the segmenting round, that sounds like it would be a fairly good round for close range deer.

I know it can kill a deer but I would read the article I linked above. I still think Brenneke is best choice.

I would rather take a round of 50BMG to the foot than a 22short to the base of the skull. all 26 of my guns are 45/70 govt, 357 mag, 22 or 12 ga... I believe in keeping it simple. Wish my wife did as well...
